TOMATO PEAS PULAO

Thinking what to pack for lunch is one of the very tough tasks for me in the recent days. Early in the morning , the chef in me makes many new combinations for my best half to ensure I pack him a different meal and also a healthy meal. This Tomato peas pulao is one such early morning trial I made and it turned out so great. It is so simple to prepare and the taste just awesome.I prefer including more of tomato in my cooking and I somehow like that natural tangy taste of it always.Give a try and let me know how you like it.tomato peas pulao

Ingredients for Tomato Peas Pulao:

Tomato – 2 cups(Chopped)
Rice-1 cup
Peas-1 cup
Onion-3/4 (Sliced)
Ghee-To cook
Salt-To taste
Turmeric Powder-A pinch

To grind:

Green chilly-2
Garlic-8
Ginger-A small piece

To temper:

Bay Leaf-1/2
Clove-1
Cardamom-1
Cinnamon-Small piece

Procedure:
1.Keep all ingredients for the pulao ready.
2.Soak rice for 20 minutes in luke warm water after rinsing well.

3.Grind “To grind” items into a fine paste.
4.In a pressure cooker, add some ghee.

5.Temper with the items mentioned under “To temper”
6.Now add the paste and saute till raw smell vanishes.
7.Add chopped onion, tomato and peas one after the other and saute well.

8.Add a pinch of turmeric powder and mix well.
9.Now add the soaked rice after draining.

10.Add one and half cups of water, salt and blend well.
11.Cook for 3 whistles and wait until the pressure gets released.

12.Carefully fluff with a fork and serve hot Tomato Peas Pulao with some raitha/Kurma.

P.S:

You can adjust spices according to your taste.
Adding a 1/4 tsp of chilly powder and skipping 1/2 of green chilly will give a different taste.
This can be given to babies above six months after having checked all ingredients individually for allergies
Consult your doctor before introducing any new food.
Garnish with coriander leaves at the end if you wish.
