CABBAGE PARATHA

Cabbage Paratha Recipe:

Cabbage is one vegetable which I prefer to have only in certain forms. I prefer it as stir fry or vada or paratha only. Very rarely I am ok to have it in my sandwich with mayo. This cabbage paratha came to my mind as I had a very little quantity of it which wouldn’t be enough for any other dishes. I just made it slightly different from the other two paratha recipes posted already(Check turnip paratha recipe here and cheese paratha recipe here. Come let us have a quick look at this simple recipe.

Cabbage Paratha:

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • Wheat flour-500 g(This will serve approximately 8 to 10 parathas)
  • Salt-To taste
  • Water-As needed

For the stuffing:

  • Cabbage-1 cup(Grated/Chopped)
  • Onion-1 cup finely chopped
  • Chilly powder-1 tbsp
  • Jeera Powder -A pinch
  • Turmeric Powder-A pinch
  • Coriander powder-1/ tsp
  • Salt-To taste
  • Ajwain-A pinch
  • Oil-To cook

Ghee-To make parathas

Wheat flour-To dust

Cabbage Paratha:

 

Procedure:

1.Grate cabbage,chop onions and get all required ingredients ready

2.In a pan add oil,add let it heat.

3.Add ajwain and let it spullter

4.Now add chopped onions and saute till they turn soft.

5.Add cabbage and saute well.

6.When the raw smell of cabbage vanishes add the spice powders and mix well

7.Add salt and mix well.

8.Close and steam cook in low flame for five minutes.

9.In the mean time knead the dough for parathas.

10.Cool the stuffing.

11.Roll the dough into small balls.

12.Use a rolling pin and flatten the ball slightly.

13.Keep a spoon of the stuffing and close it.

14.Roll it again and flatten it into a paratha by dusting with flour.

15.Use ghee and cook the parathas in a dosa/roti pan.

16.Serve it with raitha or pickle of your choice.

P.S:

Ensure to wash cabbage well after chopping.

Drain water from grated/chopped cabbage completely before adding to the frying pan.

Skip salt and adjust spices for babies below one year.

Please have a word with your doctor before introducing any new food.

This is an excellent finger food for babies and can be given from six months.

Ensure to have ruled out allergies of all ingredients used before trying this recipe.

I have used home made flour.You may use store bought ones too.

Cook the paratha in medium flame.
