Poongar Arisi Kozhukkattai Recipe:

Serves 4 – 5 people

  • Poongar Rice-2 cups
  • Coconut- Grated 3/4 cup
  • Jaggery – 3/4 cup Grated
  • Water-3/4 cup
  • Cardamom Powder- A pinch

Poongar Arisi Kozhukkattai Recipe:

1.Measure and keep all the ingredients ready.

2. Soak the rice after washing for 8 hours.

3. Drain excess water and put the rice on a clean cloth and let it dry for 5 minutes.

4. Now add the completely drained rice, 1/4 cup coconut, and a pinch of salt to a mixer.

5. Give it a few pulses to make it coarse. Don’t add more than 1/4 cup water.

6. In a pan add a cup water and dissolve the jaggery.

7. Filter the jaggery. Add ghee and now add the filtered jaggery syrup.

8. When it comes to a quick boil, slowly add the ground rice and keep stirring.

9.Keep stirring to make a thick mass (Might take 10 minutes) and it would turn non sticky.

10.Take from kadai, slightly cool down and make dumplings.

11. Steam cook for 10-15 minutes.

12.Poongar arisi kozhukkattai is ready.

P.S:

Rinse the well and soak.

Store it in a casserole . It doesn’t get hard.

Don’t blend it much. The mixture has to be grainy.

You can offer this to babies above 1 year after eliminating allergies of individual ingredients and family history of allergies.
