Red Aval Kozhukkattai for Babies, Toddlers & Kids
Red Aval Kozhukkattai for Babies, Toddlers & Kids is a steamed dumpling made from rice flakes(matta rice/brown rice) with some spices.It is a super quick and very tasty choice for a complete breakfast since it loaded with iron.You can prepare it in 20 minutes and you will full for a long time.The same can be made with white flakes too.Come let’s see the recipe for Red Aval Kozhukkattai.I havo so far posted red poha halwa/pongal and red poha upma for kids.Do check them too
Red Aval Kozhukkattai:
- Red rice flakes(medium thin)-One cup
- Water-3/4 cup
- Salt-To taste
- Oil-To Cook
- Coconut-1 tbsp
- Red Chilly-1
- Mustard Seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/4 tsp
- Gram dhal-1/2 tsp
- Curry Leaves-Few
1.Measure and keep all ingredients ready.
2.In a pan,dry roast the flakes till aroma arises.
3.Cool it and run for two seconds in pulse mode to a coarse mix.
4.In the same pan,add tempering elements and fry.
5.Now add the powdered rice flakes and mix well with salt.
6.In a saucepan boil water and add to the pan by stirring well.
7.Switch off when the water is absorbed and the entire flakes gather into a mass.Add coconut and mix well.
8.Cool it and make dumplings(can be spheres too).
9.Steam cook for 3-5 minutes in low flame.
10.Red Aval Kozhukattai is ready.
Don’t dry roast for a long time.
Use medium thin flakes.
Thick flakes might take require some more water.
Add water little by little and keep stirring.
Let the ground poha by semi coarse.
The mass will be soft.So be careful while handling.
You can offer this for babies above six months.
Skip salt for babies below one year.
