How many of you crave for a simple munch on or a “karack morak” snack at times? I do at times. I control myself saying snacking is bad most of the times. But when I am out of control I prefer making some instant snacks at home and have few spoons. One such instant quick snack is this recipe. I honestly didn’t know how to name the dish. I just randomly came up with this. Please ping me if you have some suggestions. This is usually made in the vessel which had been used to melt butter in the process of making ghee. Amma does not wash the vessel with the residue. She makes fried poha and then washes it. So everytime when ghee is made at home from butter (Check home made butter recipe here) , you can find this fried poha in our snack table.
- Ghee-1/2 tsp
- Thin Flattened Rice/Poha/Aval-1/2 cup
- Sugar-To Sprinkle
1.I am using the residue left after making ghee. Heat the vessel.
2.Add poha and mix well so that ghee is coated all over.
3.When poha turns crispy sprinkle sugar and mix well.
4.Tada.. Your snack is ready.
Babies above 1 year can have this.
Cook in medium flame. This dish will totally take a maximum of 5 minutes.
If you are using fresh ghee, just melt and then add poha as in step.2.
To make it more healthy use red poha and palm sugar(powdered).
You can make a savoury version by sprinkling some salt and chilly powder.
Store in an air tight container. It stays well for 1 week.
Please have a word with your doctor before introducing any new food to babies.
