My best half was craving for the traditional Ragi Kali which is the most common food in South India and this Ragi Kali Recipe is a natural coolant. I haven’t so far tried this version of Ragi Kali. I took help of my in-laws over video call and made this. We have tasted koozh made of pearl millet and I love them so crazy. This Ragi Kali and Koozh have become my most favourite dishes now.I am even able to take it all three times a day. Trust me it is drool-worthy. Mango Puree for Babies-When & How can I offer Mango to my Baby?

Mango Puree for Babies-Is there someone who doesn’t like the “King of Fruits” -Mango?I am sure there would be none.I am a crazy lover of mangoes.I can take it up in any form at any stage, be it raw or ripe. To be frank I would even say that the only best thing about summer is the arrival of mangoes.I really wait the entire year. The varieties astonish me.Many first time moms and new mothers are now having this question of how and when to offer mangoes to babies. So I am coming up with a detailed post on this. My little one was born in April. My paediatrician ensured that I had all fruits and vegetables while breastfeeding especially mangoes since it was the season then. She was so sure not to skip any normal food from my diet chart. She wanted the same with little one too. We tried offering all family foods before 10 months. So, mothers and fathers, mangoes can be offered to babies above 6 months and a breastfeeding mother can definitely consume mangoes. Few babies might throw up because of the strong flavour/smell. It is perfectly normal.Consider the family history of allergies and consult your doctor before trying out mango for the first time. Eggless BeetRoot Cupcakes without Raising Agents|Eggless Red velvet Cake for toddlers and kids

Today’s recipe is Eggless Red Velvet Cupcakes or Eggless Beetroot Cup Cakes. This Red Velvet Cake/Beetroot cake has no APF/maida, no white sugar, no raising agents, no butter and trust me it was done in a jiffy. Don’t you feel tempted to give it a try? Baking is simply therapeutic and easy if you begin loving it. My love for baking with healthy ingredients can’t be explained really. I wanted to try an eggless red velvet kind of a cake with natural colouring using beetroots and some baking without raising agents(baking powder/baking soda). I didn’t have much courage to give it a try because there were too many to experiment like no white flour, no white sugar, no raising agents, no artificial colouring and lots. All of these are pretty much different from the usual recipes. And above all, we wanted to do some topping with frosting cream too. Too much na for a beginner??? I know 😉 I got some courage from my friends Kalai Rajesh, Ravneet Kaur and Gouthami(Click here for her recipe) who posted similar experimentation in the recent days.  The trial session went on last weekend and it came out pretty well except for few corrections which I learnt from experts. I have included all details under my observations. Please read the recipe in detail and give it try. There was also a cranberry choco cake made with the same combinations which will be posted this week soon. KADALAI MITTAI/PEANUT CHIKKI/GROUNDNUT CANDY FOR KIDS

Hello Friends!I hope all of you all keeping good .People in North India please take extra care of yourself because of the smoggy winter prevalent. There were no posts from me for the past two days because of the horrible pollution which has bombarded us. It was a real shock to a first timer like us and we are slowly finding ways and means to tackle it.I had severe eye irritation because of it irrespective of staying indoors. It is definitely not so simple as most people think. This is an alarming situation.I shall write a separate post on this because I would write several pages if I commence.Coming to today’s recipe,it is our own traditional and the most healthy snack “Kadalai Mittai/Peanut Bar/Groundnut Chikki/Groundnut Candy”.This is one of the recipes which I had been miserably failing several times and this time hubby made it perfectly.Yeah! You can call this a guest post from Kitchen King(H/O Kitchen Kathukutty). We have so keenly trying on this because we had a tough time to pick up a pure groundnut candy for our kid.By pure what do I mean?I mean the ingredients should be only “Jaggery+Water+Cardamom+Groundnut” and no glucose syrup or other artificial/refined sweeteners. You may ask me why so much of stress on this .It is because it is our regular snack. We don’t send packed snack/ready made food as our son’s snack. Peanuts/Groundnuts are so rich in protein and combining it with jaggery makes it a super food. To know more about benefits of groundnut refer here Continue reading “KADALAI MITTAI/PEANUT CHIKKI/GROUNDNUT CANDY FOR KIDS”
