I am a great lover of sandwiches because they can be made in ‘n’ number of ways in no time. It can be a filling snack or a wholesome breakfast or a light dinner depending on the variation you make. This is one recent try I gave and it came out really well. It is so simple and highly nutritious too. Your kids will be attracted to the vibrant colour and the saucy feel when they bite.
- Bread Slices-10
- Beet root-1.5 cups grated
- Onion-1 cup sliced
- Butter-2 tbsp
- Salt -To taste
- Ghee-To cook
- Corn Flour/Wheat Flour-1 /2 tbsp
- Milk-1/2 cup
- Water-1/4 cup
- Chilly powder-1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder-1/4 tsp
1.Keep all the ingredients ready.
2.In a pan,add some ghee and fry onion and beetroot till they turn crunchy.
3.Add chilly powder and sprinkle some 1/4 cup water and close and cook for 5 minutes.
4.Now add 1 tsbp of butter and mix well.
5. Once they are perfectly blended add corn flour by slightly sprinkling and continuously stirring. Ensure to avoid lumps.
6. Add the half cup of milk and mix well. Cook in low flame. The stuffing for the sandwich is ready when the beetroot mixture becomes saucy.
7. Immediately toast bread slices and spread the stuffing evenly.
8.Serve it hot.
Choose whole wheat bread without maida.
Adjust water according to the nature of the beetroot.
Add milk only after ensuring corn flour has blended well.
When you add milk,prefer low flame and stir occasionally as it might curdle.
Don’t let mixture cool.It might thicken.
Spread immediately and serve it hot. It becomes soggy and bread tends become hard.
You can use white bread too.
Skip salt ,milk and adjust spices if your baby is less than 1 year.
You can add any vegetable of your choice
