Paneer Peas Biriyani Recipe:

Paneer Peas Biriyani or Paneer Matar Biriyani is a flavourful, spicy variety of rice made with cottage cheese/paneer and fresh green peas.I used the traditional seeraga samba rice to make this as it adds more flavour and fills the paneer peas biriyani with an amazing aroma.It is a deliciously rich meal.LO, and I love paneer & peas whereas hubby doesn’t prefer it much except for certain specific type of recipes like paneer tikka or peas curry in Kerala style or paneer biriyani or paneer burji.Last weekend I was badly craving for paneer and I made my mind to make some dish with it.And here is the result-Paneer Peas Biriyani



Paneer Peas Biriyani Recipe with step-by-step images:

Ingredients:

  • Paneer-100 gms
  • Peas-100 gms
  • Rice-1 cup
  • Onion -1 sliced
  • Tomato Puree-1 cup
  • Ginger Garlic Paste-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilly Powder-1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala-1/2 tsp
  • Biriyani Mix-1/4 tsp
  • Salt-To Taste

To temper:

  • Ghee
  • Cloves-2
  • Cardamom-2
  • Cinnamon-A small Piece
  • Star Anise-1
  • Fennel Seeds-1/4 tsp
  • Poppy Seeds-1/4 tsp

Paneer peas Biriyani

Procedure:

1.Measure all ingredients and keep them ready.

2.Rinse and soak rice for 30-40 minutes.

3.Slice onions & cut the paneer into small cubes.

4.In a pressure cooker add ghee and tempering elements.

5.Saute them for few seconds and add onion and peas, spice powders.

6.Drain excess water from rice and add the rice to this and mix well.Add a handful of mint & coriander leaves.

7.When everything gets mixed well, add the tomato puree and cook till raw smell vanishes.

8.Add the paneer cubes and add a half cup of water & required salt.

9.Toss once and pressure cook in medium flame for 2 whistles.

10.When the pressure is released carefully fluff it with a fork.

11.Serve the Paneer Peas Biriyani with any raitha of your choice.

P.S:

Adjust spices quantity as per your taste.

Reduce spices and skip salt for babies below 6 months.

Paneer can also be tossed in ghee and added at the end.

This can be given to babies above six months

Ensure to have introduced all items before and eliminate allergies.
