Vegetable Pulao Recipe for Kids:
Vegetable Pulao/Pulav is a super quick and easy dish which can be yummy and colorful for kids lunchbox. There are several types of pulao which comes like a flash to my mind during morning hours and one such is this too. When I wanted to put on this post, I had a query on if it is fried rice or biriyani or pulao. Hence I went in to dig more about biriyani vs pulao. Biriyani and Pulao are two different dishes but to give the differences is pretty confusing. Biriyani is basically a dish made with pre-cooked rice and vegetables using layering technique whereas pulao is when we cook rice and vegetables together in a pot. Biriyani is time-consuming and pretty spicy when compared to pulao. These are the basic differences. The below recipe post has two attempts made on two different days. I didn’t have Basmati Rice in my pantry and hence tried with Seeraga Samba Rice during the second attempt. It was so flavourful and great that my little one wanted it more and more. But ideally, pulao is made using Basmati Rice. After reading about Biriyani Vs Pulao, I understood that we have been using it vice versa too at times. But who cares when the dish is just delicious 🙂

Vaangi Bath|Brinjal Rice-I am not a great lover of brinjals. In fact, before my wedding, brinjal was on my hate list. It was my husband who ensured that I don’t skip brinjals. I would only have Brinjal Kolakari which amma makes for idly
I began exploring brinjal gravy , brinjal gothsu for Pongal and Vaangi Bath|Brinjal Rice only after my wedding. This version of Vaangi Bath|Brinjal Rice is from a fellow mate, named Brindha whom I met via social media. She had shared the recipe once and I was so tempted to give it a try. The outcome of Vaangi Bath|Brinjal Rice as per her recipe came out super awesome. Come let’s check out the recipe of Vaangi Bath|Brinjal Rice

Paneer Peas Biriyani or Paneer Matar Biriyani is a flavourful, spicy variety of rice made with cottage cheese/paneer and fresh green peas.I used the traditional seeraga samba rice to make this as it adds more flavour and fills the paneer peas biriyani with an amazing aroma. It is a deliciously rich meal.LO, and I love paneer & peas whereas hubby doesn’t prefer it much except for certain specific type of recipes like paneer tikka or peas curry in Kerala style or paneer biriyani or paneer burji.Last weekend I was badly craving for paneer and I made my mind to make some dish with it.And here is the result-Paneer Peas Biriyani

Corn Pulao Recipe/Sweet Corn Pulav Recipe-Corn has been my big time favourite since childhood.Only in the recent days, we come across the American sweet corn which is so fluffy, big and easy to cook.During childhood, we get corn(Makka Cholam) and all that we would do is pressure cook for a long time and eat after sprinkling salt or toast it in open fire and have it.In North India, the sight of cooking corn in open fire is very common. It is one super filling and yummy food.I would suggest you use the local corn kernels if you often cook corn instead of using American Sweet Corn. The below Corn Pulao Recipe was one of my earliest trials(June 2015).I couldn’t upload because I didn’t click a decent final picture. The below images might vary because of this.Come let’s check out Corn Pulao Recipe.

Cabbage Peas Rice:
This is my 301 st post on blog. What an amazing and blessed journey it has been!Almost three years of blogging, lots of friends/well wishers/supporters/followers ,several hours of hard-work,tons of experiences ,bunch of lessons and zero monetary benefits. This blog is a brain child of beloved hubby. It all started when he was guilty of having me away from my most lovable job for umpteen reasons . He pushed me to give a start. I didn’t have a clue what this is all about.I just recorded all recipes I knew with all my knowledge on healthy eating. When I look back the images I posted initially I feel awful today but I am really happy about the learnings. Slowly I incorporated more healthy baby foods as little one was growing along and started focusing on no white cooking which had been the norm of my cooking since inception. This gradually took me to people and there are no words to describe my joy when I received notes from parents/people saying “It was you who transformed our child’s eating routine”,”Kalyani,Thanks for being an inspiration to live healthy without compromising on taste”,”I owe a lot for making my baby’s weaning smooth”.”We miss your healthy recipes”.These aren’t just words. They are real feathers on my crown which I can proudly carry and treat as a blessing. The travel was not smooth. It was a bed roses with too many thorns than petals.Lots of barriers(personal/technical/mental/physical) came along. With the love, motivation and encouragement of family, friends and supporters here I stand feeling not happy or proud or accomplished but blessed.Yes truly blessed.THANKS is the least I can say.But Millions of thanks and tons of love to each person who has been a constant source of positive energy .I bow down to God and each of you. Our Sundays won’t be complete without a new trial of a recipe. This week I thought of making Bisibelebath-a traditional recipe from Karnataka fused with our own sambhar sadham. I have already posted a recipe of sambhar sadham which is amma’s signature dish. I was actually thinking bisibelebath and sambhar sadham mean the same dish. But it is not so.Authentic Bisibelebath has a special spice powder and doesn’t have any vegetables added to it. So here goes my fusion recipe. I was not sure of the outcome until we had it. This was an experiment based on the recipes watched in TV and tasted in restaurants. The result was amazing. Continue reading “BisiBeleBath/Sambhar Sadham”
Soy Rice or Soya Bean Rice:
Hello Friends! I am back after 75 days approx. We had a sudden transfer and I was stuck with packing/loading/shifting/unpacking/settling episodes. And finally we are kinda settled at Delhi and I thought it is high time I resume my blogging.I have been missing all of you and my blog. Hope you also had been missing Kitchen Kathukutty. I wish I could back to my routine and stick onto a regular blogging. Fingers crossed.
Now,let’s get onto today’s recipe. It is soya rice or soya bean rice or soy rice. This was made my last year for hubby’s lunch box and only now I am bringing it to this space. I tried this recipe by slightly tweaking the usual Mochai Payaru Kara Curry/Lima Bean Spicy curry recipe. This just popped up when few of my readers were inquiring about uses and benefits of soya bean. Soya bean is the richest legume with the highest protein. I have already posted a soya bean biriyani recipe which is made from fresh red soya beans(Similar to peas, butter beans). This is the dried light brown variety which is used in making soy milk.tofu etc. Please find tofu burji recipe here. You can choose to use any legume in this recipe and just make this quick and nutritious lunch box recipe. It is slightly spicy.
