Cauliflower Fry or Gobi Fry Recipe

Cauliflower Fry |Gobi Fry|Cauliflower or Gobi Roast-How to make a non deep fried gobi fry on stove top?

Cauliflower Fry or Gobi Fry Recipe:

Is there anyone who doesn’t love deep fries? I am sure none. But with increasing health issues and more awareness, many people force themselves to avoid deep fry items. It is in a way to good to avoid but it is definitely not unhealthy if you consume deep fries in moderation with right lifestyle and food habits. Mom always avoids excess usage of oil in her cooking and that bug had bitten me long back. Many of my readers on seeing my daily menu images have questioned if I really add oil to food. I am unsure but I sincerely take efforts to keep oil usage right and I always use and recommend only pure seed oils and a strict to refined oils or all those fancy oils which keep coming in the market. I prefer being local and traditional as much as possible when it comes to food habits. Whole Wheat Pasta

Cheesy Corn Fusilli-Whole Wheat Pasta

Cheesy Corn Fusilli-Whole Wheat Pasta:

I am a die-hard fan of pasta/macaroni especially the cheesy white sauce ones. You may even notice that one of my earliest posts was white sauce pasta. Like Mother, Like son- This little miracle of us also loves pasta varieties. When he began exploring and loving them I had to look deeper into the nutrition details of the pasta because most of them are maida/refined flour based. Initially, I had a belief that durum wheat pasta was better when compared to maida based ones. But unfortunately, it is not so 100%. Whole wheat pasta is the best in terms of nutrition.

Kuzha Puttu

Kuzha Puttu|Kerala Puttu|Kuzhal Puttu

Kuzha Puttu is a very common breakfast dish from Kerala. It is a truly delectable and filling dish served with payaru curry or kadalai curry, nendran banana, sugar or jaggery and papad. You can make several varieties of puttu with different flours and serve with different combinations. It is a complete and wholesome meal and the taste is so good.Kuzha Puttu is slightly different from the earlier red rice puttu I had shared.Kuzha puttu is made with a puttu maker(Click to buy). The puttu maker comes in different variants (An attachment to the pressure cooker or complete steamer type or cherattai type or bamboo types).Puttu is a dish which is made with flour+water mixture steamed well. As this Kuzha Puttu is made with tube-shaped maker it is called as “Kuzha/Kuzhal Puttu”.My aunt prepares this for me whenever I visit her. The below recipe is from her kitchen and I shot these 2 years ago. She has made it with matta rice flour. You can make the kuzha puttu with any rice flour/millet flour.I have given the details of how to prepare the flour at the end.

Chola Dosai

Chola Dosai/Sorghum Dosa/Jowar Dosa Recipe

Chola Dosai-

Chola Dosai/Jowar Dosa/Sorghum Dosa is made with the white millet cholam/sorghum/jowar. Chola Dosai is so filling, soft and gluten-free. Chola Dosai has several nutrients like phosphorus, iron, calcium, and protein. I have the habit of including millets to my routine diet in various formats. And this chola dosai recipe is how grandmom makes the chola dosai traditionally. You can also make idlies with them. Babies above 6 months can be offered with this. I couldn’t source whole millet easily here. So I kept making it with the flour.Find one more version of Chola dosai|Jowar Dosa|Sorghum Dosa here Continue reading “Chola Dosai/Sorghum Dosa/Jowar Dosa Recipe”

Baked Potato Wedges

Baked Potato Wedges for babies, toddlers & kids

Baked Potato Wedges

With step by step recipe & images-Can be made on tawa too.

My son is finishing his first year at school and his institution is having a small party for kids. Parents were asked to send some simple party snacks and my friend Gouthami suggested this Baked Potato Wedges recipe from her blog last evening.

She also suggested me to make the preparation works at night so that I can just bake /toast on a tawa today morning. I gave small tweaks to her recipe and made everything ready last night.I was so scared because I had failed twice before in baking gobi and potatoes but today baked potato wedges turned out to be a super hit.

I am saving this recipe for all my further attempts. The colour, texture , taste ,flavour¬†of baked potato wedges was so perfect and super yummy. And an additional good thing about this recipe is you make it by just shallow frying in a tawa too. Come let’s see the recipe while I keep waiting for my son to get back with his feedback.
